Lync Web Scheduler - The meeting information could not be saved

Hi,

    In our deployment i have tested using  https://<fe std name>/scheduler for external access also. I used TMG firewall for accessing it from outside and it is working fine. i am trying the other scenario to findout where it fails. Right now no success. I will update thread with my findings.

Hi Sharon,

    For external access are you are you able to resolve user Name? If no then can you verify the external url point to same pool where user is homed? If User is homed in pool1 and you are trying to create meeting with pool2 url then user resolution fails and which will fail meeting creation also.

 

So to work Lync scheduler If user is homed at Pool1 use pool1 url and if homed at pool2 then for those users use pool2 url.

Hi Sharon,

I follow this document step by step. And as i told before, it works fine inside the network.

And Rohit,

Yes i did the same configuration to both Web Sites
- Lync Server Internal Web Site
- Lync Server External Web Site

Hi,

   Lync scheduler work for https:// <Pool FQDN>/scheduler which holds true for SE/EE deployment. So in the case of FE box FQDN will be pool FQDN. So for inside the company behaviour is same. For the case of Outside the company SMTP to work you have to do same IIS SMTP configuration which you did for "Lync server internal web site" just do for "Lync server External web site"

Hi,

Have you configured a SMTP server in IIS server? You can download and refer the the section 'configure an SMTP server' from Web Scheduler "Read Me" document.

Hy Guys,

I deployed Microsoft Lync Web Scheduler in my company, but i have a problem!!

Inside the company

1. Access to https://<fe std name>/scheduler - Access the web scheduler, add participants and send invite successfully
2. Access to https://<lync ext name>/scheduler - Cannot log in to Web Scheduler (I have a dns entry in my internal dns server point to my FE STD Server)

Outside the company

1. Access to https://<lync ext name>/scheduler - Log in successfully to Web Scheduler and create a meeting wihtout send invite to participants successfully. But if i choose the option to send invite to participants it gives me an error when i try to save and send.

It gives me "The meeting information could not be saved. Please try again"

Hello all,

So I put a ticket into MS about it and they claim it's a bug in the system and will create a fix one decade (probably after everyone moves to 2013)

I put the ticket in June and they said they would contact once the fix is released, still nothing yet.

I keep checking the internet for a magic solution, but nothing yet.

If anything comes up please post it!

Hi Lisa,

I've got it (partially) working, using the information here:
http://blog.lyncfreak.com/2011/11/02/lync-web-scheduler-without-exchange/

In our case, I had to add the e-mail-address of all the Lync-enabled users who wanted to use the Web Scheduler to the "General" tab of their AD-object.
Additionally, this value has to be added to the "proxyAddresses"-object: "SMTP:<e-mailaddress of the user>" (without quotes of course).

The only downside: in our situation, it only works when using the internal FQDN of the FE pool, and that the user gets an error, regarding the Exchange-server that can't be found, when logging in.

Has anyone got this working in an environment where there is no Exchange server. We followed the steps mentioned in the document to the point, SMTP server is working as expected but we are still not able to send email from the web based scheduler. I went through the asp.net code and it is not complicated. But the core functionality of sending email (and I guess the LDAP lookup) is buried in the DLL.

Since this is ResKit, can MS share the source code of the dll. We can comment out the LDAP look up and make this work for us.

We're having the excact same problem. Everything works fine on the internal site, however when logging in through the external site it doesn't work.  Please don't send me a link to the webscheudler read me file, I've read that thing top to bottom about a dozen times. I have everything set the way it should  be, but it still doesn't work. Thanks.

you will be able to send emails to other email providers, such as windows live, comcast, yahoo mail, gmail, etc...  your party doesnt have to have exchange to receive mail. however, if you choose to use the export as icalendar option, your party will need a means to open or import the file as windows will not do it nativly. here is a link that may start you off if you were interested in the icalendar option.

otherwise i currently have no fix for the issue with lync web scheduler at the moment, but as soon as i do i will be sure to post back and let you know.

Ross,

sorry I wasn't clear, I meant that what if someone doesn't have mail server! I have exchange on my side and still it doesn't work and SMTP is installed and configured as well! I can send e-mails from my Exchange.

mohammed,

im not sure i understand your last post. you do not have an exchange server in your environment? without a mail server than by default you will not be able to perform name queries against an exchange server since there will be no SMTP setup in IIS. however, if you do not have an exchange server in your environment than you could take a look at the option to "Export as iCalendar" from the lync web scheduler site. that will allow you to exchange information with people via a .ics file, which they will than be able to view meeting details and add it to their calendar via their respective email program.

What if you don't have a mail server in your environment? the one which I have my Lync has exchange but still it doesn't work! I would be glad to hear if there's a solution for this
